Cormorants

There is a swell in the river near me.. the Quinnebaug I believe, and in that stretch of river is a sunken tree with a branch that has stood proud for ten years now, fifty yards out in the river. Many times I look over and see a heron or a cormorant sitting on this branch, I've never had my camera.
Well this spring I camped out at the shop and bright and early headed off to Micky D's for coffee and burritos and just as I left I thought of that branch so I grabbed my camera. Wouldn't you know it.. two birds sat on the branch and they got a little nervous as I stopped the car by the road and crossed the guardrail. I snapped several shots and as usual gave thanks to the Japanese gods of super zoom point and shoot cameras, in this case a canon. The light was low so these are not the best defined shots ever but there is a painterly quality to them.
I let them be and went on my way.
