Heron carving

 Yes, I carved another.. this one is carved of the same buttery pine I always use for these.. in this version I carved legs in, which is new for me.. I also added knife shavings from spoon making to the base to symbolize weeds to add a little sense of place to it. Do the shavings add something or look cheap? The slight bend to the bill makes this more representative of a baby blue heron, which I was lucky enough to study two summers past.

  I think there is still 'gold' to mine here so there will be more but take heart, another nude carving is almost ready!
